Huawei Mate 60: 6.69 OLED & Satellite Messaging

After yesterday's surprising introduction of the Mate 60 Pro, Huawei has today introduced the Mate 60, the second device in the line. Although there are some evident downgrades, the non-Pro model and the Pro version share the majority of their essential specifications. First off, the Mate 60 has the same 13MP ultrawide front-facing camera with a single punch-hole cutout.

The Mate 60's display has a diagonal measurement of 6.69 inches (as opposed to 6.82" on the Mate 60 Pro) and has an LTPO OLED display with a 1,216 x 2,688-pixel resolution with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. Additionally, second-generation Kunlun glass shields it.

The phone has the same round camera island on the back and is constructed of the same materials as its more expensive sister. The 48MP camera present in the Mate 60 Pro has been replaced with a 12MP periscope with a 5x optical zoom. The main 50MP unit with a variable f/1.4–f/4.0 aperture and the 12MP ultrawide module remain.

Although Huawei does not identify the chipset, it is widely believed that the Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro both have the Kirin 9000S SoC. The phone is only available with 512 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM.

The software is handled by Huawei's HarmonyOS 4.0, while the battery has a little lower 4,750 mAh capacity and slower 66W charging. Additionally, Mate 60 in China offers two-way BeiDou satellite messaging.

The Mate 60 is available in the same four colors as its Pro counterpart: black, white, green, and purple. Priced at CNY 5,999 ($824), it is precisely CNY 1,000 less expensive than the base Mate 60 Pro. Shipments of the Mate 60 are scheduled to begin on September 17 and are now listed on Vmall. At this time, Huawei has not provided any information on its plans for a global release of the Mate 60 series.
